TYPE OF ACTIVITY/WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
This knowledge-based activity is of importance to all pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
At the conclusion of this activity, pharmacists should be able to:
1. Define and differentiate between the different types of anemia.
2. Discuss the treatment of anemia based upon the specific diagnosis.
3. Identify clinic pharmacy pearls for the treatment of anemia.
4. Explain a potential treatment plan for a patient diagnosed with anemia.
At the conclusion of this activity, pharmacist technicians should be able to:
1. Discuss the medication based treatment of anemia based upon the underlying cause.
2. Identify pharmacy pearls with these medications related to dosing, side effects, dosage form, drug drug and drug food interactions.
