Regulatory Project 2017-1
The Board has initiated the rulemaking process to amend its rules relative to pharmacy interns and the hours of practical experience required for pharmacist licensure.  The Board proposes to update its rules to recognize current pharmacy education accreditation standards for such practical experience and simplify that portion of the requirements for pharmacist licensure.  The Board has filed its 1st Report to the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health & Welfare.  The Notice of Intent is scheduled for publication in the April 20, 2017 edition of the Louisiana Register; as indicated in that notice, the Board has scheduled a public hearing on May 30, 2017 to receive comments and testimony on the proposed rule.
 
Regulatory Project 2017-2
The Board has initiated the rulemaking process to amend its rules relative to equivalent drug product interchange, as required by Act 391 of the 2015 Regular Legislative Session.  The proposed rule will require pharmacists dispensing certain interchangeable biological products to communicate certain information about the product dispensed to the prescribing practitioner.  The Board has filed its 1st Report to the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health & Welfare.  The Notice of Intent is scheduled for publication in the April 20, 2017 edition of the Louisiana Register; as indicated in that notice, the Board has scheduled a public hearing on May 30, 2017 to receive comments and testimony on the proposed rule.
